“In today’s world, we can have anything that we want within seconds,” said CB Hoyo. “It could be drugs, art, food, or sex … you name it, you can get it.”
Temptation and addiction are central themes in CB Hoyo’s latest work titled, “Buy Art Not Drugs”. The self-trained Cuban-born artist tends to create fun and satirical work; celebrating life while touching on real societal issues.
His new release conveys his message through bold black lettering on a clean white canvas. It reads, “Buy Art Not Drugs. Well… Buy Both.” Addiction and temptation come in all shapes and sizes, and this piece beckons the viewer to give in and indulge in both.
“Everything is very easy to get as an addict (of anything),” he said. “ It has never been this easy, and we are always tempted.”
“Buy Art Not Drugs” release includes a hand embellished screen print (each one is unique) and is 35 x 29 inches. It is an exclusive release published by Monsieur Marcel with a limited edition of 5. Made with care in Belgium.
